Happy Earth Day!

There are so many great initiatives out there that make saving the earth that much easier for us mere mortals. We all know we should be recycling, turning lights off, putting blankets on our geysers, etc, etc. but what are you actually doing to play your part in looking after our precious and beautiful earth?

Here are some easy tips and plans to start living a greener life:
  • STOP buying bottled water!
  • I have noticed that Eskom has bulb exchange points at a number of shopping malls so keep a look out at your mall and swap your bulbs for more energy efficient ones - for free!
  • Mondi makes it so easy to recycle paper - just leave your paper in a Ronnie bag ont he pavement on your designated day for collection.
  • Pikitup has started a pilot project to encourage residents recycle before their rubbish is collected. Separation at Source has been so successful they'll be rolling out to more suburbs int he near future.
  • take your own bags when you go grocery shopping - Woolworths has some chic cloth ones available. Say NO to plastic!
  • Don't print unneccessarily at work or home and print double-sided when you really need a hard copy.
  • Support Meat Free Monday, a campaign supported by Stella, Paul and Mary McCartney, to raise awareness of the climate-changing impact of meat production and consumption.
  • Unplug your electronics from the power when you're not using them.
